Home alone 12, lost in Cordoba. December 17, 2012

    Dear Family,
Do you believe in miracles? i started out my application to BYU today, and i barely passed high school! that said, i believe, so lets keep that in our prayers eh?
Im wishing you all a merry christmas from afar, and im very happy to know that ill be talking to a good handfull of you in a week! im way excited.
This Saturday we´ll have 3 baptisms, a family whos parents arent married, but were right their with them as well. the whole family came this sunday and the priesthood just POUNCED the dad, finding a brother to fix his car and everything, i love my ward, and im proud to be serving along side them. they get it.
Other cool thing is that Elder Larson and Melendez are probably gonna be able to come and chill with us on the 25th, were all going over to the gonzalez home to have an asado and stuff so itll be a really good day, and were almost for sure with the skype, so things are lookin right good.
I miss you and love you all, this will be my last christmas that i wont be able to at least talk to all of you. for now though, i love ya and miss you and i know that we will be together forever.

My race is not yet run. December 10, 2012

Things are hoppin in La Madrid! Were lookin to have a white christmas down here in the blazing heat, and everyone is working really hard to do their part. On saturday we went to the house of a family we are teaching so that we could sand their walls so they could paint, and the house looks alot better now on the inside. its kind of a depressing little pad but with the TLC theyll be a lot more comfortable.
i have been trying to keep organized and it is a constant battle for me but im getting better and were seeing some good results. My comp is really coming out of his shell too and i like him alot, we have been getting good work done.
This wednesday presidant is gonna dress up like santa again and give us our packages. i already have saras, under the tiny tree i bought and its waiting for christmas. Then after the conferance we are gonna spend the day playing basketball and soccer so it should be alot of fun.
Hope everyone has a good christmas!

Chew your food you're an animal! December 3, 2012

So we went to the zoo today, pretty cool! My favorite was of course the elephant, which is my favorite animal. it was one they rescued from the circus and he is 71 years old! so cool. The hippo was pretty cool too, among others. i find myself without time to send many photos though.
We worked really hard this week and have alot to be juggling right now, im feeling your prayers and im thankful for the strength they give me. I miss you guys but im not lettin myself miss you too much, were pretty busy you know. Tonight we are going to teach a new family that we started teaching one saturday. they are going through kind of a really tough time and one of the ward missionaries set up a lesson with them, so we went and then yesterday the whole 5 of them came to church, so tonight were gonna go try to get the parents married as fast as possible. less than ten percent of the couples here get married anymore, so its a big obstacle for us, but if we explain why, i have no doubt that they will understand, people always do.
Marriage is such a hard, beautiful and irriplaceable part of life, it bottles my mind ( like when your thought are in a bottle) to think of how people would pass it up. i try to transmit that, and since its doctrine, its not hard to transmit. so wish us luck. Familia Gomez is their name, and they need aloooooot of help.
I love you guys, talk to you next week!
p.s. the picture was taken right before we did a race up these stairs. i didnt win. didnt even get second. but i did get really tired

And you're great! November 26, 2012

Dear Fam,
Pablo and Alejandra got baptized on saturday, so that was the highlight. Elder Larson and Melendez ( two of the guys coming to virginia with me) got to come over so that Larson could baptize Pablo. hes the one that started teaching him a year ago, so it was pretty special. tons of people were there and it wont let me sent more than one picture.
hey, im watching on the tv screen a video of a guy  doing the "horse dance" or whatever its called from that gangnam style song. is that as popular up there as it is down here? anyway, time is short. i sure love you guys and hope you have a great week!

But we must be strong. November 19,2012

Hey fam,
Everythings great over here, lots of fun stuff going on, last week
my comp and i went to centro, i sent some pics to christal. Today were
gonna go play basketball or soccer or something, im not really sure,
but were always down to kick it. Hope everyone has a great
Thanksgiving, it has sure been a while since ive had turkey. There is
a myth that certain families down here make thanksgiving dinner for
the elders, but sadly that doesnt exist in my ward, although my ward
does have alot of other really cool things! Like great people! so they
can keep their feast... one more time at least. The stores are already
selling christmas trees down here, i dont think anyone really knows
why haha but thats one of the many funny things about argentina. My
comp is good, the work is great. My friend Elder Larson taught and
baptized a huge family in this area last week. One of the guys and his
woman couldnt get baptized cause they werent married. Well, this
thursday theyre getting married and saturday theyre getting baptized!
literally the first time in the mission that the lucky coincidences
come my way, but its been happening all the time in this area. You
guys must be praying good and hard. Keep it up!
I love you all so much.

The sun wont go to bed, so nor can I. November 12, 2012

Its so hot i cant sleep! most of the time. today its cold and cloudy
though, so im counting my blessins.
in the pic, my comp is on the top row 4th from the left. with the face.
WEve had an incredible week. 4 zone conferance on thursday,
and then on saturday just a big old baptizm. id love to send fotos but
i dont have a chord. meybe ill get someone to forward me the pic
later(my comp)
but things are great here. ive never seen a ward so excited about
missionary work and theyre all just pawing to give us references and
have us eat in their house. its kind of like the place i believed
didnt exist due to every other area ive been in haha. way chill.
Also, my comp and i are in centro today, some plans fell
through so we got permission to just come look around and take
pictures. i think i want to go to this cool art museum thats close ish
and then at 6 it will be back to work, which is A-OK.
Sure loving all the good news im hearing from up north, im sure
everyone is taking great care of grandma.
So quick story before i sign off. 15 minutes before the
baptizm and we couldnt find white pants for a kid. frantically running
to a taxi and yelling into my phone at the same time, we rolled over
to the zone leaders area to grab a pair quick. heading back, way
stressed because 10 other things were getting done at the same time,
the taxi man turns up his radio, and what song comes on? "the glory of
love" so all of the sudden, the only words in my head are " i am the
man who will fight for your honor, ill be the hero that youre dreamin
of, gonna live forever, knowing together that we did it all for the
glory of love"... isnt that the best thing to hear before a baptizm?
sure cooled me down.
love you guys so much, ni saben cuanto

Red like the Chinese flag. November 5, 2012

i got super burnt today, way bad. i feel kind of pretty sick, but it
was worth it, we put like 6 hours in playing soccer and football and
then had a huge water fight as a zone. im in a pretty cool zone.
i just feel really blessed for the people i have. here, and
there. my comp is great, as is my ward, and i got three packages from
home ( hats off to johnny/aunt becky, brandon bridge, and mother
(which includes the aaron and christal bridge family)
i love you guys so much. i am praying that we have a great
presidant, and that you guys are all with health, and great food,
which im sure you are.

I've had worse. October 29, 2012

 Dear Family,
Time is limited, but i wanted to tell you all that im great
and that life is good. The mission is throwing some good curve balls
and i think were swinging a pretty good % so im happy. The district is
in my area were gonna go play some basketball and stuff, so it should
be a pretty chill day followed by a good afternoon of work. Our main
problem really has been having time to do all that we need to, weve
been kind of running a little late, but were gonna work on it so
things will be good.
This saturday one of my favorite investigators is getting
baptized, and the plan is that the next sunday he will recieve the
priesthood and baptize his wife and 8 year old son after church.
pretty fun stuff.
Well, i miss you all and i hope everything is great. way
excited to hear that KAYLEN IS GETTING MARRIED!
Also, everyone make sure and visit grandma bridge and tell her i love
and miss her okay?

Family letter. October 22, 2012

just wrote a huge one but it got deleted!
either that or i took too much time writing and dont want to sound lame.
standard week. we had a baptism this saturday, a really cool
lady and her son, and it was just a great sunday., the bishop called
me at 11 45 saturday night saying a talk fell through, so my talk
wasnt very organized but i think it came across well. i had help.
             love you guys!

emails were a LITTLE low this morning. October 15, 2012

Dear Family,
There is a lady in my ward named Graciela who got baptized a
year ago. She is a ward missionary and just an amazing person. She
works in her sons Kiosko, and hates selling beer or cigarettes, so
when people buy them, she sets it down in front of them and says "you
know this will kill you right? Did you know that its against a
commandment of God? that means that if you want to stop, all you have
to do is put your faith in Jesus Christ!" sometimes she shuts up the
Kiosko to invite them in to pray with her before they go, but most of
the time she just gives them an articles of faith pamphlet and writes
their number down to have the missionaries go to their house. I love
this woman. If she was younger than 65 i think id consider coming back
to marry her jajaja. My ward is full of awsome people like that, and
the proof is in the pudding. the work is great, were way busy, and
itll be a good month.
          Cordoba missed me.
             Love Elder Bridge

And then there were dos. October 8, 2012

Family of mine,
so last year one of my really good buds in the mission, Elder
Larson, had just a ton of success, found this family and baptized like
8 people in a month, and since then theyve been baptizing more of
these families memers here and there. I lived with Elder Larson for
the passed 3 months and heard all about them. anyway, I just got
transfered to that area, so last night i (bawling) said goodbye to
everyone, hopped on a bus (with Elder Larson, he has meetings in
cordoba today) and came back down. I passed the morning getting to
know the whole family, their name is Gonsalez, and i think i love
them. Larson is heading back up tonight but i was lucky to be shown
around and meet so many awsome people (at least a few of which were
gonna baptize).
My new comp is 18, he is from Chile and was one of the
experimental Elders. He only has 6 weeks in the mission and hes a
really nice guy, im sure ill learn a ton from him. so after 6 months
with 3 other Elders, im back in an apartment of 2, which will be
interesting. we only live 1 block from the bishop and hes by far the
coolest bishop ive had, and only one block from the church. Everything
seems pretty idyllic, im sure it wont always seem quite  that way, but
i feel blessed to be hear. I loved conferance. I have heard that talk
by Elder Holland, he gave it (at least a very similar one) at the MTC
a year ago, and we all have it on DVD. I really loved a few though, of
course Elder Nelsons, but i loved Elders Oaks, Elder Christofferson,
and really, elder Cook, he was just very straight up about the
consequenses of sin, and i think it was needed. Alot of our members
here didnt go, but they mostly have computers, so we´ll be setting up
some familiy home evenings so they can watch them.
I was thrilled, as im sure everyone was, to hear about Gods new
army. We need all we can get dont we? and if peter bridge is any
model, the world wont know what hit it! but we will.
I love you all so much, and felt so close to all of you this weekend.
 I love our eternal family.

I guess imma doin alright. October 1, 2012

 Dear Family,
This week was pretty hard. i was way sick for a good chunk, and
then i dont know, just kind of feelin down to be honest. its gettin
hot and its always hard when you see people struggling to change, but
it ended on a positive note. A few months ago...wow, like 4 months ago
i guess, i was on an intercambio with elder goggins (who is now at
home) and we were sitting outside this members house waiting for them
to give us lunch in a tupperware. we ended up sitting there waiting
for a while, and it was a pretty hot day. anyway, out of the blue the
neighbor comes out and hands us a plate of 4 empanadas and a lemon. we
were kind of blown away, i didnt think random acts of kindness existed
here. anyway, they were delicious, and then what happens? his daughter
comes and gets our plate and gives us another one! we were kind of
blown away at that point, but then she came back out with two glasses
of pritty limòn, which is this really good lemon soda down here.
anyway, way cool right? we didnt even know what to say.
fast forward, elder goggins went home, and Nation friend day
happened, and i thought "know what? i have a friend to help". So me
and my comp went to that house and gave them a book of mormon with my
testimony in it, and told them its all we had to give, but its the
best there is. We started teaching them, and it turns out that the
daughter is way involved in the catholic church, goes to catholic
school and everything, but they really loved the message, and she
started reading the book of mormon a ton. well, its taken a while, all
things considered, but she got baptized this saturday! it was way cool
to see. her whole family will be members eventually, theyre just
really lazy so its hard to get them to church, but ill do what i can
while im still here. she has two good parents and a little brother
that can all be baptized, and theyre all way nice so it was pretty
cool. anyway, the day is long and i am young and i want to play
soccer.
       Love you!
             Elder Bridge

Elder Skinner just sent me these! one is the morning we went to
cordoba to that special training thing. there is a picture in a
liahona of D. Todd Christofferson in front of the same statue. if you
can find it put them up side by side, that would be awsome!
the other picture is hermana hortencia. a new convert, the grandma of
the long haired kid from the other week. shes amazing.

He had a plan to shake things up, and thats the gospel truth. September 24, 2012

Dear Family,
Im sick again, but thats fine. hopefully ill feel better by
tomorrow, or the next day. Weve been really busy lately, minus the
sickness. Zone conferance was last friday and it was way cool, i got
to see some old friends and Presidants talk was awsome as always, so i
left really excited, until i got sick like an hour later haha and its
been just grand since then. today we went someplace cool though, ill
try to send pictures next week.
Im starting to get really excited for general conferance and i
really hope everyone will bring a friend! this ones gonna be good, i
can feel it. We´re making invitations and trying to get all of our
families really excited about speaking up about conferance, it really
does have something for everyone in each session. Andres (the long
haired kid in the pictures) got the priesthood yesterday so that was
really cool to see,  and we are trying really hard to keep up this
momentum, i just need health, if i have that, i can do anything else!
Time goes by so fast in the mission. today is no exception,
and im all out.

Who put the glad in gladiator? September 10, 2012

    Dear Family,
Weve had a good week, its been super busy actually, had to go on like
3 unplanned intercambios for this and that, but i think it was
productive so its worth it, just alot on my mind and now its p-day so
i kind of just want to unwind and i hope that i will be able to. Were
still just going full speed and i cant think of anything funny to
report... but we are making real progress with our investigators and
oscar, gabriel, and especially humberto need your prayers this week so
that they can be baptized this saturday!
Also, i havent gotten a package or letter in quite some
time... keep that in mind i guess? i hear johnny has been working all
summer, lets see some of that "town of raymond" money get transfered
into a box full of reeses!
This weekend was the rededication of the buenos aires temple, so
saturday night we watched the big cultural celebration thing. kind of
boring to be honest, great, but too much local dance, which stays
local for a reason. It was awsome to go to the rededication on sunday
though, its been too long since ive gotten to go to the temple and it
was a very special chance. We went to 2 of the three sessions. Elder
Eyring came, with Elder Ballard, and Elder Christofferson (who served
in Cordoba and still speaks wicked good spanish) i was pretty
impressed. He has always come across to me as just extremely
intelligent.
       Anyway, gotta go. love you!

Suit Jackets make great pillows in a bus. September 3, 2012

Dear Family,
Its been a good week. Just stayin busy and trying to teach
alot of people. Were trying to put a new emphasis on finding families
to teach instead of just individuals. anyone have any good mission
stories along those lines? id love to hear them. anything to get us
pumped up right?       Other than that, same old daily grind... oh one
cool thing. I went on an intercambio with a little peruvian Elder
named Elder Chavarry, and he found a little house that holds this
Peruvian family that sells peruvian food! they even have some tables
in the front room, so we sat down for lunch, and it was incredible.
The food down here really isnt that great, you just get used to it,
and im really used to it, but eating that delicious food that actually
had flavor was like a punch to my tastebuds and i was in heaven. if
anyone lives in a place with a peruvian restaurant, hit it up! get
sebiche de pescado, and chicharron de cerdo! i cant even explain how
good it is. the sebiche is like just a raw fish fillet with lemon
juice and some herbs and some hot peppers and stuff, and it was
seriously like amazing, and it didnt even make me sick! the other was
just... ah, so good, im totally going on more intercambios over there.
not only that, but the peruvian family is really nice, and the parents
are married! which almost never happens down here, so were definatly
gonna try to teach them... over lunch.
              Love you!

Dont pray for my spleen, pray for my investigators! August 13, 2012

 Dear Family,
Catamarca is on fire! literally its starting to get pretty hot,
but its awsome here. we had 10 people in church yesterday between the
two companionships, and we just divide everything down the middle.
weve just been working with the members so much more and our bishop is
way excited and everyone in the ward is starting to catch the vision,
its a very excited time to be here and its the product of the hard
work of many missionaries, and i am hear to reap the benefits!!!!
lucky me right?
Today were just gonna go play some soccer and im planning to
practice some piano, the church has a nice piano so im trying to learn
some stuff. also found out that my comp is quite the wiz with oragami,
so this morning i made my first crane! then i made like 4 more. next
hes gonna teach me to make a tulip. pretty cool. I just love the
elders in our zone and i love our investigators and i keep hearing
great things from home!
I doubt that cousin John Garlock reads this, so somebody please
tell him "atta boy" from little cousin connor.

The flies are coming. August 6, 2012

its starting to get hot. were really busy. i went to get an ultrasound
as a control check up from what i had three months ago. spleen is
still big but no symptoms, so im fine. while i was in the line saw
some olympics. was soccer always in the olympics? i want to say know,
but i love the idea. saw england beat uruguay. one idea i dont love is
indoor mens field hockey...really? i stared at the wall because its
less boring. and speed walking too. do you think they put some sports
in as jokes? or just to sell different shoes? i think ill never
understand.

what kind of heart did he have? A BRAVEHEART!!!! July 30, 2012

  Dear Family,
Especially Daniel... been a while pal. what gives?
Anyway, life is great down south, were just suuuuper excited to start
august, we are already knee deep in a million little projects. Im
heading up one that should be pretty big next week... man i have alot
to do. Were gonna put three big stands downtown, one for each of the 3
lessons, full of facts and sheets and folletos and everything you can
imagine, i need to assign some peeps to make posters still... its so
hard to focus on so many things, but its like juggling, i just need to
worry on the ball im throwing, and as long as i do it right, it will
take care of itself while i focus on the next thing.
I hope everyone is loving life. Send Candy! people here love
american candy so i always have to share and then i eat sufficiantly
less than id like to. if you can read this, you are the resistance....

if wishes were fishes, i would just teach a man to wish. July 23, 2012

Dear Family,
Its me, the "Bridge Train". thats what people are starting to
call me. probably because i like trains.
So weve had a good week. kkind of a sad sunday, we only had one
investigator with us, and we literally woke him up and walked him to
church. its so hard to motivate people sometimes, but alot of people
were sick too. i tell ya what, it can get frustrating. but its over
and my eyes are on next sunday now.
No funny stories are coming to mind, even though were always
laughing. my comp is super into musicals, so hes always singing the
songs i grew up hearing. hes a really good kid, from taylorsville
utah. very mild mannered, meak i guess you could say. but hes pretty
quick and likes to joke around so we get along great. elder thorup is
his name, wants to be a dentist. i cant picture him doing anything
else.
I taught gospel principles yesterday, on fasting. it was while
i was teaching that i actually started to notice all of the miracles
and special experiences ive been a part of while i was fasting or
because of  a fast. the fact that we have fast and testimony meeting
every month to me is a huge testimony that the Church is inspired. it
is such a powerful way to call down divine help into our lives, while
at the same time opening us up to the blessings of helping others, and
humbling us, and giving us stronger self control each time we fast. i
love it, and it was so easy to teach the lesson that i wanted more
time. its coming up in just a couple weeks, and im excited already now
jaja. The Lord often strengthens us by giving us oppertunities to
teach, ive found that alot, which obviously means im PRETTY dang
strong by now haha.
So hey, i love you all a ton and i miss the heck out of ya. write me!
       Love Elder BRidge

Hello one and all. July 16, 2012

Life is great here, just working real hard, staying busy, its a
good sunny day after a really cold week ( not that cold, but i keep
getting sick) and winter only lasts like a month here so im not too
worried. ill be complaining about the heat soon enough so im trying to
enjoy the cold as much as possible. we´ll be getting letters here in a
few weeks, i cant wait to find out who loves me!
hope everyone is great, we cant buy reeses down here...
Im gonna try to send some baptism pictures next week. its on my to

Violence inheriting the system! June 25, 2012

AYA! TAE KWON DO!
so theres an hermano in our ward that is a black belt, so i asked
him a favor and this morning at 11 almost all of us got together at
the church and he taught us tae kwon do for like an hour and a half,
it was sweet. i was hoping people would try to rob me before, but now
i think i might actually tape a hundred peso bill to my chest and walk
the villa in the late hours, just so i can start delivering some swift
kicks and pouncing punches. one day... nah it was really fun though,
hes a cool guy. now were just doing the email real quick and were
gonna go play some futball for the rest of the p-day, and thats fine
by me. ive been two sick to play for the past two weeks so im really
to take back the title of mister hat trick.
The week was hard, since i was sick for about half of it.
wednesday afternoon i went back out, and friday we went to the
provincia of la rioja for zone conferance. pretty cool, it looks alot
like catamarca, but i saw a bunch of elders i really love and it had
been a while. all of the trainings were exactly what we needed and it
was just really great. we feel good, and july is looking to be quite
the month, ill fill you in, if i feel like it.  (dad).
Anyway, everythings the tops here. hope yall are great. to
everyone that played a part in making me that tape, thank you so much,
i really loved it. mom, i loved going through the pictures with you,
and just hearing everyone. very good idea, i loved it. im gonna send a
full tape i have soon. happy fathers day, and first of july! love and
miss you all.

I'm so sick. June 18, 2012

so
thought i was getting better yesterday, just had a cough but i had
all my energy. we went out and started working and after about 4
hours, just took a huge turn for the worse. so here i am, no better
than last week if not worse, just loving life. or hating it. blah.
we had a good week though. 2 baptisms, lots of cool people were
teaching, my companion is the man and yeah, things are fine. ive just
felt like crap for over a week so it puts a damper on it. i have gone
through like 5 rolls of toilet paper for my nose and im still going
strong. pray that i get feeling better. please!
other than that, love you guys. happy fathers day Dad, thought
about you alot yesterday.I understand that nobody wrote me because
theyre all just partying it up in Washington. some people still love
me. namely grandma glennie and johnny rompain.
so anway, miss you guys. hope everything is great!

so they hung up a dead bird. June 11, 2012

kids here get super bored. some times we see them just sitting on the
curb for hours at a time, theres not much to do. and soccer balls get
expensive, and the new ones get stolen, so sometimes the kids just
want something to do. im pretty sure thats why the other day elder
bethers and i saw that they had found a dead bird, and hung it over
the powerline, where they could throw rocks at it. there were
literally like 10 kids just throwing rocks at the dead bird and having
the time of their lives. And who says we need video games.
Things are good, were just trying to keep up our momentum and
teach as many people as possible, i feel like things are going really
well in that respect, the tough part as always is just getting them to
come to church, we only had 3 investigators in church yesterday
between the 4 of us, but we´ll get more next week, no worred.
HOpe everyone is doing well and writing me letters! the mail
is slow, send now so that ill get some in september!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA BRIDGE!!!! June 4, 2012

Dear Family,
This week has been great. LAst week we played Paddle, and just
relaxed and it was great. the lawsons brought over cake number 2, and
then this friday my boy mario went ahead and gave me cake number 3. i
now hate what cake looks like, but its a good hate. Ive just had a
great week thanks to so many of the people i love. i got the tape that
everyone made for me, i got the letters that people sent, and i got my
tiger shirt! its just been great.
Were working really hard and we should be baptizing a couple more
people this weekend, so that will be awsome! Other than that we really
just need to find some new people to teach so were gonna be going
BRIDGE speed all week, which happens to be a speed that i can handle.
The whole zone came over to our apartment today for an asado and we
just ate like sooo much meat, so im full of meat, and its delicious,
so im happy. we also are going to the leather lady today, im gonna use
my birthday money to get a beautiful leather case for my spanish book
of mormon, ill take pictures when its done, but it will probably take
about 6 weeks cause the lady is preparing for this big festival thats
coming up.
Were healthy, were happy, and today starts a new transfer. the 4
of us are staying together so its just gonna be really awsome.
             Love yall,
     Elder Bridge.

P.S Grandpa Bridge, HAppy Birthday! 88! that is 4 times more years

I believe you, but my tommy gun don't! May 21, 2012

So yeah, youd never guess how many argentines are either sleeping,
about to shower, at the hospital or at their moms house, at all hours
of the day, all at the same time. its like every door we knock, and it
went from maddening to funny long ago, youd get a kick out of it.
sometimes were like "showering? at 4 p.m? thats so wierd, so is
everyone else on the block!" and theyre just like... yeah well...
(door slowly closes). so we learn patience, haha.
Its been a great week though, we had 6 in church, a few that we didnt
even invite so it was pretty cool. were staying really busy and were
seeing that as the ward is getting fixed, more investigators are
coming to church. and the ward was getting really broken, but the
senior missionaries are very good at what they do and we are seeing
huge results. i really hope everyone that can serve a senior mission
does, we need them bad. especially down here.
Well heck, id love to hear how everyone is doing, but were good
downhere. we dont have reeses down here, in case someone was about to
send a package and didnt know what kind of candy i would probably rob
a homeless kid for.
    With that, love.
